A Little Reading Corner.

Monday, March 19, 2012

As promised (so very, very long ago..), I'm here to share my little reading space! It is my most favorite corner of my room (maybe even house!) and you can often find me staring at it quite longingly. ;)
I bought the chair at a local vintage market called Funtiques (if you are ever in the area, do yourself a huge favor and stop by. It's the best!) for $70. I had major buyer's remorse after buying it, but after talking to my boss, she said this was a super good deal, and considering how old it is, and what good condition it's in, I decided that it was an overall good purchase.

So that's about it as of late! My room is ever changing, and I like it that way. I'm constantly browsing Pinterest, and am constantly being inspired to change it up some more. So we'll so how it goes in the next few months. ♥
Have a wonderful Monday! I'm off work for Spring Break/to finish healing up from my wisdom teeth surgery. Which has been going fairly well! I spoke a little too soon the last time I blogged. Days one and two were just fine and dandy, but day three hit me h.a.r.d. I was in pain & had swelling on the right side of my face - which looked mighty strange! But I'm doing much better as of today, although my bottom teeth ache almost constantly and no amount of Ibuprofen will ease that pain. Clueless as to what to do. But oh well, it won't last forever!

Adjustments to Le Bedroom!

Sunday, March 4, 2012

I added this little bit above my bed a few weeks ago, and am so pleased with it! I later added a row of paper doilies above the "I love you" bunting. So sweet. I've been "wanting" a headboard for my bed for so long, but finally decided to get creative with headboard, and I had some extra fabric hanging around, so here it is! Although, with the addition of my little reading corner... (sharing later this week, I promise!) nothing in my room really matches anymore. So that's my next goal. Achieving one total look for my room. I may need Colby's help!

And this sweet addition has been up since a little before Valentines Day! I've been trying to come up with something else to put up there, but I'm totally blanking. I'll probably spend my afternoon on Pinterest trying to scrounge up some ideas!
I promise to be back later this week. I've got a monster of a speech to give on Tuesday! Yuck. And then I'm off to St. Louis on Friday (Blake is going to see Radiohead, and I'm not much of a fan, so I'm hanging out with my aunt and cousin Max). I will definitely try to squeeze in some blog time while I'm there!

New Apartment Tour!

Thursday, July 7, 2011

**I apologize in advance...this is extremely photo heavy.

I'm so excited to share these photos! Since I turned like 6 years old, I've dreamed of decorating my own space. And now I finally get to! Keep in mind that its still a work in progress. More has happened in the kitchen in the past 24 since I took these pictures, so I'll (of course) keep you all updated with all the changes that go on in mine and Anna's new home. :)

We'll start with my favorite part of my bedroom!
The tables were my great-grandmother's... I have another one by my bed, you'll see in a bit. I absolutely adore them, and I will no doubt keep them for forever! The easel that the album is on is also from my great-grandma. In my old room, I kept it on a shelf & it held a painting a friend did for me. But then I realized it would be perfect for displaying whatever album I was currently listening to. Right now I'm listening to Bon Iver's new self titled album. Its really, really pretty. These are our records! I say "ours" because Blake has bought almost all of them! When I got my record player for Christmas, I had 3 records: "The Sound of Music" and "West Side Story" soundtracks from my grandma's collection, and Tom Waits' "Rain Dogs" that I'd gotten for my 18th birthday (I ♥ Tom Waits, in case you didn't know). I think our favorites right now are the new Fleet Foxes album "Helplessness Blues" & Tyler, the Creator's "Goblin."
Don't mind the dust! ;)
The little owl bank was a gift from Blake's momma. She's the sweetest. And I spy a photo of me and my bestie, Mr. Colby Kern! Love you, best friend. :)
I refused to throw away my 2 years worth of Nylons away, so I packed them up and brought them all with me, much to mom's disliking.
For the past *forever* I've slept in a twin bed. When the news of moving out came about, I told my parents I needed a big kid bed. And I got one. Its SO great, why didn't I get one before?!
My "getting ready" area. Its a mess right now, but that's real life, right? ;)
This is the second room I've inhabited that has the breaker box in it! Its frustrating because its gross and ugly looking! Its always been quite the challenge covering it up and making it look... presentable in a bedroom (why do people put these things in bedrooms anyways?!)... so I used it for my growing Polaroid collection plus little things I wanted to keep around for a while (including Mr. & Mrs. Larson's cute wedding invite & program). Oh, and there's Blake chillin' in the mirror.
This is the new living room! I love that our house is (nearly) all hardwood flooring. I'm in love.
(the cutest little umbrella holder!)
this little clock is in our bathroom. other than the little paint chips below, this is the only picture of the bathroom, because the thing is so tiny, there's not much to show!
we're also choosing colors for the kitchen! so fun.
and this is a tiny bit of the kitchen. its so huge for an apartment! I was worried that our kitchen would be small, but we have so much cabinet space & such, it's surprising! I love it. I'm also a big fan of Anna's vintage bread box on top of the fridge, and her owl cookie jar!

That's it for now! Hopefully I'll do some more tour posts once we get even more settled in - Anna started hanging things up this afternoon, and we'll probably do some more tomorrow! Exciting, exciting.

So what do you all think?? Does the new home fit me, or what?! :)

I'm not dead.

Living without an internet connection is tough. Let me tell you.
I have been without internet for like, 2 days I can already tell its going to be rough.
I went back to my parent's yesterday to finish cleaning out my old room, and I just sat on facebook for the longest time catching up on everything I'd missed while moving in!
But, I have figured out that if I choose a certain connection that isn't password protected, andI sit in the middle of my bed, I get a semi good connection! Yay to me!
Anyways, if you follow me on twitter, you've probably already seen these, but here are a few peeks from around the new home:
it has been so much fun getting everything set up and making it feel like home.
I can't wait to share more! Hopefully I'll be able to give a full tour soon-ish.
:)

See you soon!

Little peaks around my room.

Friday, April 15, 2011

My room is so cozy right now. I can't wait to do some crafting and Netflix watching tonight.
Nights alone are very rare, so I'm taking advantage of this one.
Christmas is over, I'm aware. The tree is too cute to put away, though!
My little craft area is sooo messy! But this is the cleanest its been in a very long time.
The books I've been meaning to read.. oops.
So that's all I have for tonight.
I'm just staying in, and hanging out at home. Maybe going to the gym with my momma later. If I feel up to it. I've been a sleepy girl lately!
Tomorrow is Record Store Day! So boyfriend and I are going to pick out some records, as well as go back to Funtiques and get the soundtrack to the original version of The Omen we found on vinyl yesterday! (Yesterday, I said I didn't need it... but this morning I changed my mind)
Later we're meeting up with his parents to go to an Elton John concert! We're pretty darn excited. :)
Oh, and look at this tattoo!
This is my friend Sarah. She chose to get matryoshka doll because her adopted sister is from Russia. Dasha (her sister) got one too! It's so stinking adorable in person. I absolutely love it.
(and obviously, it's not finished yet. She goes back in 2 or so weeks. I'm so excited to see it finished!)
Love you!

bedroom tour:)

Monday, August 23, 2010

Since I couldn't really participate in Janel's home tour last week, I decided to just do a little tour of my room. I'm not kidding when I say little:
told you it was little! the first image is a view from my little craft area, and the second is a view from my door. TINY. it feels like i live in a walk in closet!
this is my little craft space! the room originally was intended as my mom's scrapbook room, so my dad put in shelves and a countertop. a year after she'd been using the room, i decided i wanted it as my bedroom, so like any good mother, she moved all of her supplies to a tiny corner of her bedroom and let me move into her studio space. <3>

ahh, my bed.i love my bed. and yes, it is parked right in front of a door. a few years ago, back in my rebel years, i decided that it was a good idea to sneak a guy in through my door. ...not a good idea. so, not only is the door blocked by my bed, it is also nailed shut. not fun, but it makes for a good story, yes? :)

this is the top of my dresser... that doesn't hold clothes. I keep all of my old journals, papers, craft stuff in here. and since i use my dresser for that... all of my crap is shoved into a tinyy closet.

this is my favorite, favorite corner of my room. those little tables are ones that my great grandma had for as long as i can remember. when she died, they were given to my aunt, who put them in her basement. so finally, i took them home with me. i love them so so much :)
so that is my bedroom! and now...
yay! i've never done one of these before, and i found it to be a lot of fun, surprisingly. this is my *knock off* orla kiely bag that i got in new york city this past summer. i'm in love with it :)

1. sunglasses case. 2. phone case. 3. book of friend's senior pictures. 4. wallet (12 bucks at target!). 5. keys. 6. pens/pencils. 7. "dark teal metallic" nail polish from f21. 8. Band of Horses tickets for October (!!!). 9. monthly planner that i made. 10. "The Wild Things" by Dave Eggers.

There ya have it! For such a large purse, I really don't carry much in it.
UGH..and...
3 of my 5 books that i need :( seriously... $216 worth of books right here... YUCK. and i still need two more :(
BUT, i guess i shouldn't feel so bad.. colby texted me yesterday when he bought his books, he spent $460 bucks on 3 books. ughh, college, you suck!
but class starts tomorrow, and i'm outrageously excited for some reason. :)

love you guys!

a little inspiration.

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Today marks the first day of school for the kiddos of Marshfield. And it also marks the first day that I don't have to go back to school. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that I could sleep in and not worry about getting up for dreaded high school. BUT all of that changes next week when I have to leave my house by 7:45 in order to get to class on time. :( I can see very many early morning trips to Starbucks in my future... as long as I can afford it. Ha! I think that's what I'll be asking for for Christmas gifts. Starbucks gift cards, so I don't have to spend my own money on that addictive stuff called coffee. :)
Anyways, with my day off today, I thought I'd get started working on organizing my room/craft space... but then I realized I was super delusional for thinking I'd spend a whole day doing that. I spent half my morning watching almost 4 whole episodes of Nip/Tuck (I've gotten behind. sad face), and the other half running errands for my momma. Laaame. So now, I thought I'd waste, I mean... spend, some time on WeHeartIt looking for some cute bedroom inspiration that I can use when cleaning up/ making my room pretty.

Isn't the first one soo beautiful? I wish I was capable of reproducing that in my own room, but my bedroom simply doesn't have enough space :( Lame sauce.
However.
Colby and I have a math class together this semester, and since I have a 2 hour break after that class, we have many thrifting adventures planned so I can find perfect accents for my bedroom. I really just want a space that is comfortable and inspiring. Somewhere that I feel safe in, and can create in.

Hopefully I can get it to some sort of point tonight where I can clean it up and take pictures to show you progress :)

love,
me.
