That one time Breigh & I planned our entire weddings..

Friday, August 5, 2011

I spent a good chunk of Tuesday with Breigh. We just so happened to plan our weddings.
Neither of us are close to getting married.
We found venues, decided on food & desserts, found dresses, picked our wedding parties. No joke.
Here were my sources of inspiration:
Breigh and I even set a potential date for my wedding. Originally it was April 14, 2013... but then I thought, who wants to get married on the anniversary of the Titanic sinking?! What a way to celebrate Jack dying. So then we started thinking, maybe 2013 is just a bad idea in general. 2013 just doesn't sound good. But... there's a problem, 2012 is too soon. 2014 just feels..too late. So 2013 it is. I hope that future husband of mine is okay with this.
I also decided my father/daughter dance will be to "No One's Gonna Love You" by Band of Horses. I told my mom this in the frozen food section of Wal-Mart. She started crying.
Something about how my dad and I both have a crazy love for Band of Horses, and the lyrics "no one's gonna love you more than I do" really hit a soft spot for my mom.

We also decided that simplicity is best. So we both decided on having only one bridesmaid. Each other. Aren't we the cutest best friends ever?! And then I found this dress....
And Breigh fell in love. I officially want it for her bridesmaid dress. Seriously. And she loved it so much that she offered to buy it right then. Because we all know that ModCloth will not have this dress in 2013.

Here were Breigh's sources of inspiration...
As you can see she's going for a very rustic feel for her wedding, hopefully we'll find a good venue for her! She wants it in a barn, of course. We found this one, and it's absolutely gorgeous. But she feels that traveling 3 hours away is a lot to ask for such a big guest list she intends on having. Oh, I love my best friend. :)

Seriously, the guys we marry are super lucky. We have general ideas of what we want to do, and all that's really left to do is actually plan and get it ready. Oh boy. Lucky guys. :)

So what about all of you? Do you have your future wedding planned already? :)

I apologize for not having any sources for our photos! I can tell you that we found all of them on 100 Layer Cake, Once Wed, and Ruffled Blog.

New Apartment Tour!

Thursday, July 7, 2011

**I apologize in advance...this is extremely photo heavy.

I'm so excited to share these photos! Since I turned like 6 years old, I've dreamed of decorating my own space. And now I finally get to! Keep in mind that its still a work in progress. More has happened in the kitchen in the past 24 since I took these pictures, so I'll (of course) keep you all updated with all the changes that go on in mine and Anna's new home. :)

We'll start with my favorite part of my bedroom!
The tables were my great-grandmother's... I have another one by my bed, you'll see in a bit. I absolutely adore them, and I will no doubt keep them for forever! The easel that the album is on is also from my great-grandma. In my old room, I kept it on a shelf & it held a painting a friend did for me. But then I realized it would be perfect for displaying whatever album I was currently listening to. Right now I'm listening to Bon Iver's new self titled album. Its really, really pretty. These are our records! I say "ours" because Blake has bought almost all of them! When I got my record player for Christmas, I had 3 records: "The Sound of Music" and "West Side Story" soundtracks from my grandma's collection, and Tom Waits' "Rain Dogs" that I'd gotten for my 18th birthday (I ♥ Tom Waits, in case you didn't know). I think our favorites right now are the new Fleet Foxes album "Helplessness Blues" & Tyler, the Creator's "Goblin."
Don't mind the dust! ;)
The little owl bank was a gift from Blake's momma. She's the sweetest. And I spy a photo of me and my bestie, Mr. Colby Kern! Love you, best friend. :)
I refused to throw away my 2 years worth of Nylons away, so I packed them up and brought them all with me, much to mom's disliking.
For the past *forever* I've slept in a twin bed. When the news of moving out came about, I told my parents I needed a big kid bed. And I got one. Its SO great, why didn't I get one before?!
My "getting ready" area. Its a mess right now, but that's real life, right? ;)
This is the second room I've inhabited that has the breaker box in it! Its frustrating because its gross and ugly looking! Its always been quite the challenge covering it up and making it look... presentable in a bedroom (why do people put these things in bedrooms anyways?!)... so I used it for my growing Polaroid collection plus little things I wanted to keep around for a while (including Mr. & Mrs. Larson's cute wedding invite & program). Oh, and there's Blake chillin' in the mirror.
This is the new living room! I love that our house is (nearly) all hardwood flooring. I'm in love.
(the cutest little umbrella holder!)
this little clock is in our bathroom. other than the little paint chips below, this is the only picture of the bathroom, because the thing is so tiny, there's not much to show!
we're also choosing colors for the kitchen! so fun.
and this is a tiny bit of the kitchen. its so huge for an apartment! I was worried that our kitchen would be small, but we have so much cabinet space & such, it's surprising! I love it. I'm also a big fan of Anna's vintage bread box on top of the fridge, and her owl cookie jar!

That's it for now! Hopefully I'll do some more tour posts once we get even more settled in - Anna started hanging things up this afternoon, and we'll probably do some more tomorrow! Exciting, exciting.

So what do you all think?? Does the new home fit me, or what?! :)

i thought i'd share a bit of 'home inspiration' i've been keeping lately. i'm hoping to move out (very, very) soon... so i've been piling up the inspiration, so i'll know what i want to do with my new space when that day finally arrives. :)
glee was super disappointing (i've been looking forward to this episode for too long. blah).
but i'm currently with breigh, getting ready to watch Never Say Never, and convincing grandma to keep her teeth in her mouth. she's a feisty one, that's for sure.
my tuesday has been way less than great, but i hope yours was a good one. :)*also! i updated my 'about me' and 'faq' pages! check emmmm.

Today marks the first day of school for the kiddos of Marshfield. And it also marks the first day that I don't have to go back to school. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that I could sleep in and not worry about getting up for dreaded high school. BUT all of that changes next week when I have to leave my house by 7:45 in order to get to class on time. :( I can see very many early morning trips to Starbucks in my future... as long as I can afford it. Ha! I think that's what I'll be asking for for Christmas gifts. Starbucks gift cards, so I don't have to spend my own money on that addictive stuff called coffee. :)
Anyways, with my day off today, I thought I'd get started working on organizing my room/craft space... but then I realized I was super delusional for thinking I'd spend a whole day doing that. I spent half my morning watching almost 4 whole episodes of Nip/Tuck (I've gotten behind. sad face), and the other half running errands for my momma. Laaame. So now, I thought I'd waste, I mean... spend, some time on WeHeartIt looking for some cute bedroom inspiration that I can use when cleaning up/ making my room pretty.

Isn't the first one soo beautiful? I wish I was capable of reproducing that in my own room, but my bedroom simply doesn't have enough space :( Lame sauce.
However.
Colby and I have a math class together this semester, and since I have a 2 hour break after that class, we have many thrifting adventures planned so I can find perfect accents for my bedroom. I really just want a space that is comfortable and inspiring. Somewhere that I feel safe in, and can create in.

Hopefully I can get it to some sort of point tonight where I can clean it up and take pictures to show you progress :)

love,
me.

YUCK.

I have stared at this blank page for hours trying to muster of the motivation to blog something, anything. This motiviation is nowhere to be found. This is a terrible place to be in. I can't tell if it is because of what is going on in my personal life, or if it is plainly because I have nothing to say.
I'm going to say that it is a mixture of both. :(
I have been praying so, so hard for some sort of reassurance that everything is going to be ok. I know that life is hard and I need to learn to suck it up, but it seems like everything is just hitting me all at once, trying to knock me down. So stinking tough.
But... I have a huge dose of happiness for you all, because Lord knows I need it.
All of these pictures are ones from my WeHeartIt feed. Enjoy :)
is this not the most precious little puppy everrr? i want him!!

i miss the city :( i want to live there so, so bad.
i hope you all are having a terrific week. its friday, pumpkins.
