Just a random photo of the Hooters that Blake and I ate at right after getting engaged. #classy
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. Lately as in last night.
I was catching up on blogs and I just kept thinking, "these people have incredibly perfect lives."
We all know that this is not true. No one has a perfect life. But when you put your life out on a public space and you only show the positive, it just sort of kind of makes us all feel like crap.
I am so far from perfect. I am stressed out all the time (Blake can tell you that this is very, very true). I have an anxiety problem (and maybe even acid reflux, exciting I know). I have this problem with not taking school seriously sometimes. I have struggled with depression the majority of my life. I never see my best friends, and speaking of my best friends, one of them has a 2 brain tumors and a kidney disease, which adds to the stress. I'm not embarrassed by the imperfections of my life, but I deal with it all enough in real life that I don't want to continue talking about here, you know?
But then again.
I look at a couple of different blogs and I think "How is she this pretty all the time?" 'Why can't I just up and move to Paris?" "Why is her family the cutest ever?" "How THE HECK does she look like that after giving birth?" "WTF, I just want to take weekend trips to NYC whenever I feel like it like she does." A reoccurring theme with all of these thoughts was most definitely "COME ON NOW. This can't be real life."
And when I see this stuff, I wish more bloggers would share the real aspects of their lives... not just the sugar coated happy butterflies and flower fields aspects of the lives.
This is me just thinking out loud, because it's something that's been sitting on me heavily in the past, oh, 12 hours. I don't want to be one of those bloggers who just blogs about the good stuff. I want to be able to write about the bad stuff, too. I don't know. Like, I said... I'm just thinking out loud.

This song:
and this song:
-I have to work today, but I'm heading back over to Breigh's as soon as I'm done there. I think she's doing fine, a lot of it is just emotional stuff now. The poor girl, everything is happening all at once. :(
So, we're spending tonight together, and even planning a Biffy Night for next weekend (we want to see Bridesmaids a lot!)
-I have 3 more days of school! Next week is just reviewing for finals, and then all of my finals are on that next Tuesday. I'm so excited to finally be done with this semester. It's lasted way too long.
-I've been looking through my closet, and I feel like I have absolutely nothing to wear to Elsie's wedding. Haha, I feel silly for thinking that, but it's true! So I think a little shopping trip next weekend is in order.
-Blake just informed me that the Home Alone house is for sale. I want it.
-Oh, and... Regarding the Anonymous comments towards my boyfriend: The first one I received (last week, I think), was probably the nicest/edging on a smidge rude comment ever! It sounds exactly like something Breigh would say to me during one of our late night girl talk therapy sessions. Haha. But, I took whatever Anon had to say into consideration, because whoever this person is, did their best to explain what they meant. And then yesterday, I received an extremely rude Anon comment regarding Blake, yet again. I'm sorry, but... this is my blog. I will talk about my boyfriend as much as I want! If that bothers you, stop reading! I don't want to seem rude about it, but he is my boyfriend, he is the man I intend on marrying... I am going to talk about him a lot.
With that said..
-Dear Boyfriend, come home now. :)

I just couldn't stay away... :)

I love blogging too much. A few weeks ago, I didn't blog for an entire week. I'm really not sure how I did it, because the past like, 34 hours have killed me!
So, things will most definitely be back to normal within the next few days. I'll get back to my regular features and all that. :)
Mr. Blake has been absolutely wonderful about everything that's going on. He brought me Starbucks and chinese for lunch at school on Tuesday, and then took me to Olive Garden (best.ever.) for dinner. I like him times infinity.
& My boss, who is just about the cutest ever, went on vacation last week and brought me back the sweetest little owl she thrifted while she was gone. Oh, and some Celestial Sleepytime tea that I can never find at the grocery store. I have the best job ever.
Last week, my mom bought the family gym memberships. Now. If only you knew my entire family... This is a completely ridiculous idea. Even for me, it's outrageously ridiculous. I don't exercise. Ever. But, tonight, my momma and I went to the gym. And we worked out for a solid hour. And for this, I was very proud of myself. My legs are jello. And I will definitely feel it tomorrow. But nothing was better than coming home, feeling completely refreshed. Hopefully this is the start of a very good habit. :)
I have to work on a paper for Children's Lit tonight - she's been piling homework on us a lot lately. But this paper is only like, one to two pages, and it's about a children's book illustrator of our choice, so I chose Marc Brown who wrote/illustrated the Arthur books. I loved those books when I was little! And the tv show was even better. In fact, I think I'll watch it on Netflix while I write.. :)
Goodnight!

Taking a break.
Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Miss James & Miss Danielle both did this, and I think it will do me some good.
After some recent comments left here, I really, really feel like I need a mini break from blogging, and the internet, in general.
When every little thing you say, or do, is attacked for no reason at all, it is emotionally exhausting. So, I'm taking a break, and I'll be back in a few days with, most likely, a lot to say. :)

Procrastination is my new best friend.
Monday, April 11, 2011
I've been avoiding my Children's Lit paper very well this afternoon.
I even cleaned out my car. Blake will tell you that this is a huge deal. I never ever clean my car.
I've eaten a whole day's worth of calories within like 3 hours, and I've watched America's Next Top Model & That 70's Show pretty much all day (I meant to watch The Kennedy's... but I forgot what time it came on. Oopsies). Oh, I also reopened my Tumblr AND spent two hours pinning things on Pinterest.
Later this evening, I plan on painting my nails and watching movies.
And maybe working on my paper.
I have 3 more pages to go... I can totally do this.. Maybe.
It's Grandma Night though.
UGH. The world is against me and my education!
:)

Random photo. Just because.
Have a good night!

Today, I took a picture in my school's bathroom. Actually, the bathroom of the Gillioz Theatre. But I do have school there.
So whatevs, it's all the same, right? :)
I'm trying so hard to get back into the habit of blogging and all that jazz. I took a break (ha, some break. just a week) because I felt like I had absolutely nothing of great importance to say. Like, what on earth do I blog about? What could I possibly write that someone actually wants to read? Blogging is such a weird thing. I can't say that I missed it during that week that didn't blog, but I definitely wanted to find that... "passion" for it again. I don't think that I've found it yet, but I'm working on it.
In other news, Blake made me chocolate covered bacon. It was pretty freaking great. I enjoyed every bit of it. Also. All we did today in Children's Lit was watch JK Rowling interviews. Time well spent, I'd say.
I went through some silly "drama" that all stemmed from my "mean" anonymous comment I got last week. All of my friends saw it, because of course, I tweeted/facebooked about it, and they all came to my defense and "knew who it was." In high school, I used to be friends with this girl, and long story short, we are not friends anymore, and there is a lot of tension between us, and our mutual friends. It is absolutely silly. But anyways, a lot of petty Facebook messages were sent, and lots of tears were shed (mean things were said about my best friend's kidney disease in an effort to make fun of us). Bottom line, girls are mean, and that's a big reason why I didn't feel like blogging for a while.
ANYWAY.
I love you!

What I'm Wearing + What's in my Bag ♥
Thursday, March 10, 2011

Cardigan - Forever 21//Gray v-neck - Charlotte Russe//
Top - Urban Outfitters//
Jeggings - American Eagle//Boots - Steve Madden

....and then my camera died. bummer.
BUT! I did get quick photos to do a "what's in my bag" post!
My fake Orla Kiely purse! I got this when I was in New York. When we first got to Canal Street, I had full intentions of getting a Chanel but I was having zero luck, then I stumbled upon a smaller version of this, and immediately had my heart set on finding the bigger one! Luckily I found it. Not so lucky: an hour later, I found a woman selling stolen Coach, Chanel and Louis Vuittons. So I got Breigh a Coach purse and called it day.2. Target wallet ($12!)
3. Cell phone. Because I would die without it. Probably.
4. Entertainment Weekly and Foam.
5. Pencils and magic marker. :)
6. iPod. Sweet, sweet, first generation video iPod. I've had it for 4 years now. It's time to move on...
7. Chapstick. Although, that was technically in my coat pocket. Not my purse.
8. Red nerd glasses from RVA. (part of my Grad gift from Miss Elsie!)
9. A Wrinkle In Time, for my Children's Lit class. Which I did not read & we had a test over. Thank you, Jesus, for making today a group test day.
10. Wet Seal gift card holder, but.. I use it for needle and thread. duh.
11. Photo book! It has maybe like... 3 pictures in it. Ha:)
12. keys.
Okie dokie. I'm all tuckered out. It's been a long day.

Today is for..

Today is for:
*taking my time getting ready
*making rice krispy treats
*taking my crafty projects and hanging out with my high school art teacher
*spending my evening with my grandma (its grandma night!)
*having a good day
Mondays have never been my favorite until I started college. I don't go to school or work on Monday, so this is my day to completely relax and do whatever I want. I love it. :)
I hope your Monday is just as relaxed and hopefully stress free.
I'll see you tomorrow! :)

Yay! First outfit post of the new and improved blog! :)

cardigan-forever21//top-charlotte russe//jeggings-forever21//
oxfords-steve maddenring- forever21//bow-red velvet//scarf-ThatGirl in Tattoos
My new scarf is seriously like my new favorite article of clothing. I'm so in love with it! Thank you miss Tiffany! :)
I am so thankful for my awesome dad who enjoys doing silly things like take photos of my outfits for me. We even drove around after taking these to look for different spots for future photos. He's the best :)
Anyways... Welcome to the 'new' blog. I didn't change much with the appearance of it, but there are a few changes here and there. (I do have a new blog button, too!)
Most of the new changes are in the style of my blogging. Like I mentioned the other day, Colby's blog schedule has had me way inspired to have a blog with an actual purpose. And my sort of-half way purpose will be fashion. Some days, I just think to myself, "gosh, this is a really cute outfit." (haha, I hope I don't sound too vain saying that!)
But I'm excited about having an actual schedule for posts and attempting to stick to it.
Here's the current lineup for the time being. I'm sure it'll change every now and then.
*Sunday- What I'm Wearing
*Monday- Today Is For... (these kind of posts are my favorite! I like making lists. Ha)
*Tuesday- Link Love (blog features are the best, too ♥ )
*Wednesday- What I'm Wearing
*Thursday- Awkward & Awesome (via The Daybook)/What I'm Wearing
*Friday- Friday Favorites (Mr. Colby Kern does this too! Yay for besties.)
*Saturday- What I'm Wearing (Can you tell I'm on the fast track to be coming all about clothes on this blog? Haha)
It'll be different, that's for sure. But I hope you stick around, and like the changes. :)
Oh, and also. Every day, will have my favorite song of the day! I like music a lot.
Today I picked "Helplessness Blues" by Fleet Foxes. My boyfriend suuuper doesn't like them, but whatevs. I think they're good. :)

Things are going to be changing around here very soon!
I have been so completely inspired by my best friend's blog as of lately. Seriously, for the past few years, Colby has been the worst blogger. I would constantly be checking to see if he had updated his blog, but he never ever did. But! In the past few weeks he's been developing his blog and has been making it better, and I am so in love with it (you should most definitely read his blog).
Anyways.
I was sitting in math class dreaming up ideas for what I want my blog to be like. My "dream blog," if you will.
So. Coming Sunday, I will have a brand new and (very) improved blog for you :)
I am hard at work at making this the best it can possibly be.
This means:
*weekly features (a blog schedule? on this blog? I never thought that day would come!)
*outfit posts (yiiiikes. I'm nervous about this one.)
*song of the day (!!!) (my super adorable boyfriend does this just about every day on Twitter. its so cute. He needs to have a blog, too).
I am so excited and I have a massive to-do list of things I need to get accomplished for this all to be ready on Sunday. So I'm forcing myself to work at my desk instead of in my comfy bed tonight. And I'm rewarding myself with lots of hot chocolate and maybe even a trip for ice cream and french fries later. :)
I hope you have a fantastic evening and I'll see you on Sunday ♥

I decided this blog was in need of something more than just photo booth pictures (and for that, I am very sorry-ish). So.. a mini photo dump of sorts is in order, I suppose.
I've been running around like crazy lately, or so it seems. As I mentioned the other day, I made the last minute decision to drive to St. Louis and spend the weekend at my aunt's. I got to see little Max, and Miss Cassie (whom I miss very, very much). She gave me the tour of her theatre at school, and her dorm. And also surprised me with some very vital info concerning her career. My girl is signing a contract with her agency and moving to LA in the fall. She's growing up so fast.. :)
Monday was bestfriend-Breighann's 19th birthday, so Blake and I went to her surprise birthday party.
(Blake also brought me Starbucks & a new record when I got home from STL. Awesome boyfriend I have)
Tuesday, I had school and Blake and I saw Burlesque, and he complained very little, if at all, actually. Like I said, I have a really awesome boyfriend.
I added some Red Velvet love to my car...
I was a bit goofy at work, all by myself yesterday afternoon, after spending a chunk of time working on our new V-Day display..

Its still got some work to do... Momma is making a Love-themed banner to go across the front of the case. I'm so excited!

I don't have anything else important to say. Not that any of this was important and life changing to you anyway :)

fashion + blogging
Sunday, January 9, 2011

what i wore last night... now i wish i had a legit, full picture of my outfit. it was cuuuute.
lately, i have been obsessed with fashion blogs. i could spend hours upon hours looking through chictopia and lookbook... i have before, and i will tomorrow, most likely. haha.fashion blogging is weird to me, though. i mean, who just decides one day that they have a good enough sense of fashion to share it with the world? and what's even more astounding to me is that people get popular off of it, too. admittedly, as i said before, i love fashion; i love blogs; so it makes sense to love blogs about fashion. but its just a strange concept to me. i did one post before on an outfit i wore one day (and it was lame), and i must say - it is actually really fun to share your outfit of the day. i enjoyed it quite a bit. i may try to do that more in the future, if you all don't mind.. :) p.s. you can look on my flickr for some of my past favorite outfits of mine.
i do have 3 favorite bloggers that i always keep on the lookout for though:
*lily of llymlrs. i think i like lily the most. her outfits are much like my own; we have very similar styles. and i always find her outfits to be the most wearable, in my own humble opinion, that is. also. i am in love with her hair, just like everyone else that follows her. this is my most favorite outfit of hers. its so simple and girly.
*coury of fancy treehouse. holy gosh, this girl is cute. she has such a whimsical style about her, and she's just the cutest. and she has just about the most adorable blog in the world, too. everything about coury is cute (even her name is cute. gosh). i want to grow up and be like her. minus the blonde hair. that wouldn't look good on me. :)
*miss elsie of a beautiful mess. elsie's blog is who i go to when i need a vintage-fashion fix. her daily outfit posts are always full of vintage & thrifted goodness, and she works wonders when mixing prints. i'm super stoked about her new makeover feature, as well as Red Velvet Gets Fancy. she's always been a fantastic source of inspiration, but as of lately, her blog has been filled to the brim with cute clothes and pretty things. looove.

So, I may try my hand at fashion blogging in the near-ish future. Maybe.
But, in the meantime, this sick girl needs to get her rest. I've been on the couch all day and I still feel nasty. Tomorrow will most likely be the same too. I'm hoping its not a snow day for my brothers, because as hard as I used to pray for snow days when I was in school, I very much treasure my precious alone time at home. So cross your fingers that they'll go to school tomorrow!

blogging during math. again.
Thursday, November 11, 2010
So I'm blogging about my outfit today.
My dad took a photo of me this morning on his iPhone..he'll probably use it to show his friends how "odd" his daughter dresses.

I was going to visit RV for some bubble tea this afternoon... but Elsie informed me that they're out of bubbles! no bueno.
But.. I'm going to stop by anyways:)
Oh, and, Colby's been tweeting about me again..

Such a good friend.
:)
