catch up day.

Monday, February 21, 2011

It is so dreary outside. I'm watching The Blair Witch Project. And its not even 9 am yet. I'm surprised I'm awake.

I need to play catch up with my blog challenge!
Day 7: Favorite movie.
I have 3.
Gone with the Wind. Requiem for a Dream. Wristcutters: A Love Story.
I actually think I'll watch Gone with the Wind today.. I'm excited. I haven't watched it in 2 years, maybe..? :)
Day 8: A Place you've travelled to.
New York City... sigh.
I want to live there.
Day 9: A photo of your best friend.
I have a lot of best friends. But Blake is the one I hang out with the most these days :)

He's so cute :)

thinking out loud.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

It is no secret that I want to live in New York City sometime in the near future.
But today I was thinking: I am so envious of those who were born and raised in New York. They know the city like the back of their hands, they know how to handle the people (and what's more the attitudes). The atmosphere, the chaos, New York is their home, and it is what they are used to. I envy that. All I know is a small town where I have to drive to the town 30 minutes away to get Starbucks or go see a movie; the way I dress is even too much for this insanely small town that I live in. And then I started thinking about if when I move to New York... I want to have a family eventually. I am going to bring a child into the world that will have the life I always wanted. My child will be the true New Yorker I have always wanted to be. And I'm jealous of this child that is 10+ years away from existence. But I'm okay with this. This is the life I'm choosing for myself, and for my future family. And it is absolutely perfect.

Today while at work, I began making my 2011 goal lists, and started organizing my thoughts for how I want 2011 to play out.

Truth is: I don't know what I want for the next year.

I have my goals, yes. But when its this time next year, I don't know where I see myself.
I talked to a woman in one of my classes last night who told me about her experience with moving to New York City by herself right out of high school. She truly inspired me. I came home, my head full of thoughts and all I wanted to do was tell my mom about all these plans I have. I think it might have scared my mom when she noticed how serious I was about it.
Through all of this, I think I'd like to see myself living completely on my own by the end of the next year. I would love it. Will it happen? Probably not. But that's the goal. Something I'll be working towards in the next few years.

Anyways...
I've been working on more attainable goals as well. I won't say what I'm working on just yet, but some huge changes are coming.
I am very, very excited for the coming year. Life has a way of surprising you - and I honestly can't wait to see what's in store for 2011.
I don't think I've ever been this excited about life before.

+ I started reading a new book today. I hardly ever really invest in a book. But lately I've just been wanting to read a really good book, one that I can't force myself to put down, one that leaves me thinking. Well... I started "The Year of Magical Thinking" today and this afternoon at work, I read... and read... and read. I read for maybe 2 hours and then finally made myself quit so I could clean up and go home and read some more. The book is incredibly sad so far, but all the reviews I've read of it say that the author keeps it very light and its not as depressing as it seems it will be. So far, I just want to cry and give the author a huge hug. But it is SO good.
I can't wait to get to work tomorrow morning so I can make myself a huge chai tea latte and settle in to my cozy chair in the back and just read for another 2 hours.
I need more good books to read! :)

Dreams.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

I have so many dreams that I want to accomplish in the (near-ish) future. So many.
Lately, these dreams of mine are all I can think about. My future is all I can think about.
I really, really need to stop looking at photos of New York.
And it really suuuper doesn't help that one of my favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany's. Audrey Hepburn makes being poor in New York City look absolutely fantastic.
I have also recently become obsessed with decorating my imaginary apartment. I looked all through Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters last night, and again this afternoon as soon as I got out of class. I am sure that my grandma is tired of me yelling at her every now and then, "oh my gosh, look at these curtains!" or "holy crap, look at this lamp!"
I've never understood Colby's obsession with home decor... and now I do. It is absolutely addicting.
I am demanding that I have a living room like this one someday.

But really.
Is it too much to ask for a cute boy who plays cute music, with our cute little puppy in our cute apartment, and a little cupcake shop of my own, and just a passion for life?
I think not.

(p.s. I forgot to the do the blog challenges today... so I'll catch up tomorrow.)

Compliments, New York (again), and Biscuits.

30 Days of Truth: Day 12: Something you never get compliments on.
Is it bad that I can't think of anything? I don't mean that in a bad way. Its just the only thing I ever get compliments on is my eyes, and there's nothing else I feel should be complimented - if that makes any sense. Ha.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 23: Favorite vacation.
How many times can one person talk about New York City?? I can't say enough about this city. Really. Highlights included...
the Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park.
Strawberry Fields, in Central Park, as well. Central Park, in general. Haha:)

Taking a text-break with my aunt while waiting on the grandma to finish reading every single informational sign at the Statue of Liberty. Although visiting the Statue was cool, it was extremely boring. I would've been just fine looking at it from land, instead of waiting 2 hours for a 15 minute ferry ride out to the island, and then another 2 hours just "looking around," and eating chili cheese fries. Boring.

The Pants Party:
Never in your life have you seen a more amazing giveaway. For real.
Look for yourself. It is awesome. Danielle reallyyy knows how to put on a good party.
Anyways... the point of blogging about this, y.o.u. can win a handmade journal by me! :) So, go to Danielle's blog, look at all the amazing prizes, tell her what you'd fill a pool up with (I would definitely choose alfredo sauce. is that weird?), check out everyone's shops/blogs, and win.
This is an EPIC giveaway.

my week is all screwed up.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

All day yesterday, I thought it was Tuesday. And today, all morning, I've been thinking it's Monday. So weird. Yesterday, I was all excited for the Rocky Horror episode of Glee, and then got super upset that it wasn't on. And then today, I keep thinking that The Event is on tonight, which really - it was on last night, and I missed it. Uh, lame. Looks like I'll be on Hulu in between classes today.

This morning, after my first class (which gets out before 10...which means I'm waking up around 6 just to get to class on time), I had coffee with my good friend Taylor. I met him my political science class, and he's the coolest. For real, he plays tennis and works at PacSun. He's way awesome. So we had coffee and talked about my crafting skills, and my obsession with owls (he got me a shirt from PacSun with owls on it. I looove it), and he made me an origami owl. Told ya he was cool.
Right now I'm blogging in math. I started taking notes..and then gave up. I don't like this class anymore.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 16: Dream house.
I have 2 dream houses. And they are both in the town that I live in. One is just really silly, and the other, I'd legitimately live in.
(the silly one)
(the one i'd live in)
I love my town. It has some of the prettiest old houses around, and they are all in the same general part of town, so its so cool to just take a walk and look at all the pretty homes. I love it here.

30 Days of Truth: Day 5: Something you hope to do in your life.
Something I hope to do? Live in New York City.
I'm such a small town girl, I can't imagine living anywhere other than where I live now. But I know that someday I"ll have to move away, and funny enough, I want to live in a huge city where no one really knows their neighbor.
I went to NYC for a few days back in June, and I fell in love. It is the most beautiful, most exciting, most alive city I've ever been to before. It is amazing. Beyond amazing.
I'm hoping that when I'm done with college, I can just up and move, and start a new life on my own. As scary as that sounds right now, I can't wait to do this. I'm up for the challenge of being completely on my own; I can't wait.
if you could live in any city, where would you live? :) xo haley

New York, New York.

Day 8: a place you've traveled to.

Hello, hello... I thought I'd share my most favoritest place in the world..
New York City.
I got to visit the Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park - Robert Pattinson's butt was on this, so I had to sit on it, too.
I HAD to go to Strawberry Fields, of course. For some reason, it was slightly underwhelming. Maybe because when you Google images of it, its always very pretty & decorated with flowers. When I went, it only had these two flowers. I was disappointed, not gonna lie. haha :)
Standing only feet away from where John Lennon was murdered was truly a goosebump inducing experience. I got chills walking up to The Dakota. Also - Rosemary's Baby was filmed there, I think. Oh, and, I want to live there.
I originally had no intentions of going to The Statue of Liberty. I wanted no part of that. It seemed boring and like a waste of time. Wrong. It was so much fun. Yes, it took almost the entire day, but it was sooo amazing.
Every morning, we took a picture in the elevator on our way out of the hotel. It became something we looked forward to every day. :)

I'm so glad I got to take this trip with my Momma, Grandma, and Aunt Leslie.
Best graduation present ever? :)

xoxo Haley
