happy birthday, best friend!
Mr. Colby Kern turns 21 today! He's my best, best friend, and I love him very, very much! :)

My best friend is probably the coolest ever. He loves Madonna, he has an awesome theatre-major boyfriend, we have jammies nights, he bakes amazing pumpkin spice cookies, we both order the same drink at Starbucks, he visits me at work occasionally, he has an awesome eye for photography, he. is. just. cool.

Happy birthday, best friend.
I love you!

So.... I have the coolest Mom in the world.
Words can't even express how much I love her. So... I thought I'd let some pictures do the talking:

my mom is sometimes an incredible cook. Lately, she's become more "experimental" in the kitchen, and she's been making a TON of dinners from scratch. i.e. the above pizza, cinnamon rolls, cashew chicken, etc. She's awesome!
She's also INCREDIBLY creative! She absolutely loves scrapbooking and making things for people. She currently leads a group of kiddos at church who make little gifts for people in the church, and in the community. So cool & inspiring.
She and my aunt Leslie are the coolest sisters ever. Our shopping trips are the best!
She (..and my aunt and my grandma) took me on an awesome graduation vacation to New York City. That alone equals awesome mom award. She and my Papa have been married for nearly 21 years! (and...yes, my dad actually enjoys wearing that hat...)Thanks to Momma, our house is the coziest little place during the Winter. She does her best to make the Christmas tree look flawless, and she spends countless hours rearranging picture frames and candles and whatever else on the shelves. So cute.
And of course, any woman brave enough to let their husband keep this lit up all Winter on the side of their house is awesome! My Papa made this a long time ago and it never fails, day after Thanksgiving, it is lit up on the side of our house until football season is over. With the way the Chiefs are playing now, I'm surprised its not already up!

And, here's the current convo, via text, going on between me & mom:
Mom: Can you tidy up the house a bit?
Haley: Maybe. Haha
Mom: I shall not hold my breath. LOL.

I love you Mom! You're the coolest!
Love, your favorite (and only) daughter :)

People keep saying that October is the best moth ever..
I can't lie- it really is fantastic.
The weather lately is wonderful. Its perfect cardigan & boots weather.
But not only is October wonderful weather-wise, but it is also the month of lovely Halloween. Not my favorite "holiday", but its definitely in the top 3. ;)
Now, I've never really done the whole dress up for Halloween thing before, and for some reason... Colby and I are taking it very seriously this year, even though we have zero plans for parties or anything of the sort. We just want to dress up and take cute pictures, I think.
But anyways... I love the costumes and candy and photography that Halloween brings out. Here's what I've seen floating around weheartit lately:

it is almost 10pm, I have a ton of laundry sitting on my bed, and my entire body feels like a train just ran over me, I have decided to stay up, watch the last few episodes of season 6 (last season. sad face) of Nip/Tuck, and blog.
What a smart decision.
Today has been a good day:
I had to work (another sad face), and on Saturdays it is extraordinarily boring. No one really comes in on Saturdays because we're only open 10-12, so I'm usually there by myself working on my latest craft project, or reading a book, or doing whatever else my little heart fancies.
BUT, today, my aunt who lives in St. Louis called in an order for 12 dozen cookies. She wants them decorated for breast cancer awareness month and have them delivered to my mom, grandma, uncle, aunt, and their coworkers. How sweet is she? I love her much. Anyways, I texted my boss to tell her about the order, she called me, and told me that since she's on vacation this week, I can bake/decorate all 144 cookies by myself and then deliver them! Holy wow! I'm so stoked. This is like my first "real" taste of my future career, and I couldn't be more excited. This really relieves any doubt I've ever had about my choice of career. :)
Anyways.. after that, I went to Springfield with the grandma, who bought me a new pair of shoes because she was "tired of seeing my nasty moccasins." Gotta love that woman.
I've been home for a while now, and now my pumpkin spice latte is way cold and that huge pile of clothing is still on my bed, and I'm obsessed with finishing this series so I can start on either Lost or Arrested Development (I'm not sure which to start just yet..)
I'm excited for this coming week for some reason... I don't know why. Life isn't what I expected it to be, but that's ok. I'm learning to go with the flow. I'm learning that biting my nails is not a good solution to my problems. I've also learned that next time, when I dye my hair, not to forget to put in the little green bottle of whatever that good smelling stuff is. And I'm definitely learning that next time I have a Safety & Sanitation test worth 140 points, I should probably study for it.

best friend and I are watching Say Yes to the Dress & baking pumpkin spice cookies.
We absolutely love both of these and tonight has been a good night.
We went to art walk for a few minutes, since our friend Sarah had never been before. We went to Steak & Shake, and I ate my burger wayy too fast, and now I feel sickly.
I have a massive headache... and my back hurts.
But still! Its a good night :)
(colby & his boyfriend blake. i love them.)

have an awesome night :)
xo me.
