Well...

*hello, dirty mirror*

So much for a regular blogging schedule, eh?

I am SO sorry for just disappearing! In an act of spontaneity, I dropped everything and drove to the middle of nowhere Arkansas for a mini girls weekend with Claire
I've known Claire, via our blogs, for well over a year, but we just met this past weekend! It was so exciting, and I'm glad we finally got to meet. Sadly, no *real* pictures were taken, but there are plenty on my Instagram, if you follow me (@elizabethhaley)!

Everything will be back to normal tomorrow, and I'll be back with a cute little post on my Valentine's Day favorites!  I can't believe January is already over!

Hipster Tuesdays

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Every Tuesday, Blake's friends get together for this thing they call "Hipster Tuesday." Let me tell you, ever since I started going, I've had so much fun. They are such a great group of guys, and they are hilarious (Coop blogs! and Zach is about to start a blog, and it sounds awesome!)
Anyways, usually they eat at a mexican restaurant, hit up Starbucks, and go to one of the guys' houses for a movie (usually old movies, on vhs if someone's got it). Well, since my roomie is out of town on her honeymoon (!!!), I decided to switch things up on them and have it at my house. Tons of fun.
We watched Suspiria, which I'd never seen before...and it's alright. Definitely not a favorite, I liked Opera muuuch more. Anywho, these were just a few photos of our night!

What's on My Desk

Monday, January 23, 2012

The other day, during my room tour, I showed a little peek at my desk, so I thought it would be fun to do a weekly feature based on what is on my desk at the moment. For the first installment, I cleaned up my desk and made it "presentable," which I'm pretty sure Blake was making fun of me for*. But after this one, I promise to show you the true colors of my desk. ;)

1. Yes, I still have my 'stocking' up from Christmas. I just love Christmas so much. Oh, and the sweet little "I love you" bunting was made by my cute boyfriend. 2. I keep a few of my books on my desk, mainly the ones I'm reading at the moment, or wanting to read soon. And that little photo is of my mom and me when I was a little one! 3. I am obsessed with all of the cute little containers in the $1 section of Target. I seriously buy them every time I go! I have a cute felt one in my bathroom. Obsessed.  4. A little stash of yarn. I'm currently *attempting* to learn how to knit. Attempting, being the key word. 5. My mom got me the book, "Where's Mom Now That I Need Her?" for Christmas, I think as a joke. Well, I will not lie to you... this book has helped me a TON. I have things highlighted, corners bent to save a page, and bookmarks all over this book. It's amazing!

*and yes, this is my desk when it's clean.

So, what's on your desk? :)

Nesting: My Bedroom.

Saturday, January 21, 2012

My weekly Saturday feature is all about homes! About 6 months ago, I moved out of my parents home and into an apartment with my sweet roommate (who's getting married today! Yay Anna & Isaac!). About 3 months after that, we had some issues with our downstairs neighbors, so we moved out of that apartment and into a bigger and way, way better apartment closer to downtown. We l.o.v.e. it!
So, here on the little old blog, I will be posting about our ever changing home, as well as some inspiration posts here and there, for my sake. ;)
So to start out the new feature, I thought I'd share a few little peeks at my bedroom. It is by no means fully decorated. I still have so much I want to do, but I'm currently lacking on the time to do it!

I hope you enjoyed the mini tour! Next week, I'll be sharing the living room/kitchen! It's my favorite part of the apartment. :)

Welcome!

Friday, January 20, 2012

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the brand new Elizabeth Haley!
I know that you're probably thinking... "this looks very similar to the last layout..."
YES. It does. Colby and I talked while we were working on different designs and concepts, and we very much liked the minimal look that my last layout had, but wanted to spice it up with some handmade elements. So.. here it is! And yes, that is my handwriting. :)

I have a brand new blog schedule mapped out for the upcoming Spring season that I am very excited about! I'll start the first new feature tomorrow, so you'll just have to wait until then to see what I have in store for you!

If you'll just excuse me for a moment...

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

For the next couple of days, my blog will be set on private!

But have no fear - it's all due to a million times better Elizabeth Haley is coming your way!
Last night, Colby Kern & I started on my new layout and even the tiny, tiny fragment of it that we finished last night, I love it SO much and I am SO excited to finally reveal it!

Along with Elizabeth Haley's new look comes a new blog schedule!
I'm so excited because there is so much going on in my life that I can't wait to share with you... school is starting (cooking classes! Eee!), I'm hanging out with my friends more, and I'm just all around happy, and I can't wait to get back into blogging.

I'll see you in a few days!

Instagram Style.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

I've been kind of lacking on taking actual photos of my outfits lately, which sucks because I've been wearing some cute outfits these days! (well, at least I think so.. haha!)
So without further ado, my outfit posts, Instagram Style.
I wore this outfit last Sunday to church... the tights are so stinking comfortable, and the boots were a Christmas gift from Blake! dress - Francesca's Collections// Tights, Cardigan, Socks - Forever 21//
Boots - Journeys// Scarf - borrowed from my roommate :)
I can't remember when I wore this... but it was a while ago, before Christmas I'm pretty sure.
Cardigan, socks - Target//Necklace - Urban Outfitters// Shirt, Tank - borrowed from roommate//
Jeggings, ring - Forever 21// boots - Steve Madden
This was what I wore for New Years Eve... the heels didn't last long at all.
Shirt, necklace, jeggings - Forever 21// Tank - H&M// Heels - Target

And I thought I'd just include this for fun :) I wore this yesterday to work...totally slumming it. I worked three 12 hour days in a row... rough. I was supposed to work again today, but the snow/ice kept me in! I don't mind, but I miss my kiddos! I usually wear cuter clothes to work, but keep it kid friendly, since I'm chasing them around all day, and playing in the floor with them.
 Gotta keep it comfy!

Hopefully, once it's not so cold, I'll take some proper outfit photos!
:)

2012

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

I have so many hopes for 2012, but then again, that's how I feel at the start of every new year.
But I'm confident that 2012 is going to be one of the best years yet.

2012 has so many things in store for me..

*spend time with friends like Colby and Breigh more often, especially since they live so close to me. It's silly that we never see each other.
*I'm starting a new semester at school, after taking a semester off. I'm excited to go back, but so nervous, since I'm starting a new program of study. But, if everything goes as planned, within the year, I'll be completely certified and able to work in a bakery.
*This blog is getting a makeover soon! I'm excited for all the changes I have planned, including a new layout, and a brand new concept!
*I'm vowing to read more. I need to just make a list of books I want to read and stick to it.
*I'm turning 21. This is a big deal.

These are just a few of the big things that are happening in my little old life.
But in the meantime, I'm at work (45 hour work week, killinggg me) and I'm hungry. So I think I'll get started on lunch for the little ones and myself.

So what are your new plans for 2012. I want to hear. :)

Passion 2012: Atlanta, GA

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Passion 2012.
I'm finally taking the time to write out my Passion experience. It was a whirlwind of a week and only a few memories are still vivid to me.

Last year, in April, I went to my first Passion conference in Fort Worth, TX (I blogged about it here). There were between 10-12 thousand students attending the conference. To me, that is a huge number. An amazing number.
Well, 10 thousand is nothing.
This year, at Passion '12 in Atlanta, GA, there were over 44,000 students in attendance. How amazing is that? I was in awe of the sight of it all.
Passion is never a disappointment (although, I will say, I did enjoy my first experience more). I came away from the experience with fresh ideas for After Your Heart, and was even more excited for 2012 than I was before. God has amazing, amazing things in store for this year.
Anyways, back to Passion, Francis Chan (like last year) was the highlight of Passion for me. No matter what he is speaking about, he is so passionate about it. You can truly see that he wants us to know and love God with our entire hearts. He is an inspiration (and I can't wait to actually start reading Crazy Love! Can't believe I haven't read it yet).
John Piper was another speaker, and like last year, I was blown away, and left scratching my head wondering what I'd just heard. Piper is so incredibly smart, I have trouble keeping up with him!
I was really excited to hear Beth Moore speak. My mom had heard her speak a few times and loves her, so I was excited. Although she's great, I felt like she was speaking to the wrong audience. In my mind, Beth Moore should be speaking to women between the ages of 30 and 50. Not college students. I did love her though.
I think the part of Passion that appealed to me most was the awareness that was raised for human trafficking and slavery that still exists today. (the photo above is a huge structure created as a symbol of hope for those trapped in slavery. It was constructed out of items that are typically made by those that work in sweatshops/mills/whatever and is created by slaves... everyone who donated money took an item and wrote a message or prayer on it and then it was put on the hand. On the last night of Passion, 40,000+ students stood in the frigid weather surrounding the hand, and at midnight, candles were lit and the students prayed for those who are slaves).
Did you know that there are 27 million slaves in the world right now? That's more than any other time in history! I hate that this issue seems to be swept under the rug sometimes. It's hard to get people to take notice of the people that can't speak for themselves; the people that are trapped in slavery.
But the best thing about college students is that they can become very easily passionate about something.
The attendees at Passion were able to donate $100,000 to the city of Atlanta to help fund/train/etc. a new Special Victims Unit specifically for sex trafficking and slavery in Atlanta, GA. How amazing is that?
Then... together, 44,000+ college students raised $2.5 million. Two and half million dollars of their own money.
And then a couple that came as adult leaders were so moved by the dedication of poor college kids that they donated $500,000, making the total money raised $3 million.
three million dollars.

Passion is a great experience. An extremely emotional one, as well.
I really can't explain my experience at all. You really just have to experience it yourself.
I loved every second.

Passion 2012

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Hey! Sorry it's been a while since my last post, I've been in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2012 Passion conference!
I absolutely cannot wait to come back and share my experiences with you all!
I'm currently on a bus, driving to get some breakfast before our last session before heading back to Missouri.
I have some wonderful things to share from what's happened while we have been here, everything that the students at Passion are doing is incredible. I can't wait to share.

Pray that this morning is a good one for the Passion conference!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
