i hope you all have a wonderful night. i have to work for a bit, and then i'm staying in with the brother and his girlfriend. the boyfriend is in chicago seeing his very favorite band. i'm sad we can't spend this (lame) "holiday" together, but he gets to see his favorite band. so i'm excited for him. :)

a good day + a year in review.

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Today was suuuch a good day!
I hung out with my grandma all day, which I do very often, but today was especially fun - even through my bad mood (which was terrible, at first). We went to Barnes and Noble, where I picked up some books I needed for my Children's Literature class I'm taking next semester at school, and she ended up paying for them. As a poor college kid, its really nice when people pay for things! :) We had lunch with one of her friends from high school (which she graduated in 1970... so they've been friends for a looong time). She was probably the coolest woman I've ever met. We got to talking and she and I have so much in common (its good to know I relate to the old folks..haha). She wants to go on a trip to Canada with my grandma and I sometime within the next year or two, and I couldn't be more excited! She travels a lot, and she loves Rosemary Beach (in Florida) as much as I do, so we devised a plan to be business partners and start a cupcakery and record store in Seaside or Rosemary Beach. And all of this happened in a 2 hour time span. Ridiculous.
And then Grandma and I went to Target, and I bought A LOT for like, 20 bucks. I bought new pajamas (I LOVE NEW JAMMIES!!!), new floral tights, new socks (I LOVE NEW SOCKS MORE THAN JAMMIES!!!) and I bought my very first Christmas tree and ornaments to go with it! And right after I bought it, I called my mom to tell her. I felt like a grown up...up until that point. Haha. And then we got Starbucks. It was a good, good day.
And I'm finishing it off with getting cozy in my NEW jammies and watching Rock of Love & Flavor of Love. I'm so cool sometimes.
:)

Aaaand now my year in review.
Sort of.

I will not lie to you. I am so glad that 2010 is over. It has definitely had some good moments.. but looking back on it, it was just another year. Nothing spectacular happened. BUT... I will share some of my favorites from the year...
....I wore a Snuggie to school for "Roll Out of Bed Day." Embarrassing? A little. But eh. The best senior year memories aren't always the cutest.
I got to hang out with some of theeee coolest girls on the block. I love when they come to visit (and I even got to chill with Emjay a bit more when she came to visit last month!)
At the ripe age of 18 (3 months from 19, actually), I finally got my driver's license. I used to hate driving. I practically live in my car now. Its the love of my life.. when its not acting weird.
PROM! I actually hated everything about it. Dinner. My dress. My lack of a date. The weather (it rained all night). The dance. The music. EVERYTHING. It all sucked. But this picture is absolutely perfect! It makes it look like we had a decent night!
I graduated!! Breigh and I are the only ones that ended up sticking around good old Marshfield. Cassie goes to Lindenwood University, and Alyssa goes to Truman. I miss them A LOT.
I will never ever forget Project Grad. I was awake for nearly 24 hours. INSANE. We did karaoke allll night, and got fake barcode tattoos. AND my parents were chaperones. It was the best.
Best. Graduation. Gift. Ever. Aunt Leslie took me (and momma and grandma) on a little trip to New York City (the city of my dreams) and it sparked a little love affair with the city. I m u s t live there one day. Boyfriend and I both went to NYC this year, about a month apart and have decided its our future home. I can't picture living anywhere else.
Product modeling for Miss Elsie was seriously sooo much fun. and I got a cute dress out of it. :) Lovelovelove.
Cassie, Dad, and I went to see Eclipse for our "Twilight at Midnight" tradition. 3rd year in a row. I LOVE hanging out with my Cassabee and Papa Tyson. They make my heart happy. Can't wait until next November so we can do it all over again. :)
I got my very first tattoo! It was my little 19th birthday present to myself (that I paid for with graduation money. Ha!) Such a good idea. Now I'm itching for my next one... which will hopefully be my 20th birthday present to myself. :)
Aunt Leslie treated the family to a last minute trip to Florida. We hung around Seaside, FL. which is the home to The Truman Show (one of my very favorite movies). It is the most wonderful little town in the world.
My favorite photo shoot of the year (and these were very few and far between this year. Bummer). Colby and I set up all of his lights and moved around some furniture in the guest bedroom of his house, and took some cute pin-up inspired photos. Love.
And another favorite photo shoot. This one I did with Miss Erin Sunday as a sort of spur of the moment thing. SO much fun.
ok. I promise. This is my last of the favorite photo shoots. Another one that Colby and I did, this time in Fair Grove, a location we'd never shot at before together. It was lots of fun, but very short lived. Too many bugs. :(
Ohh, Halloween. Nothing like dancing to Cher & whipping yo' back and forth with a bunch of gay dudes. I dressed up as Ke$ha, and went on a party crashing date with my best friend and his cutie boyfriend, Blake.

This year ended on a good note, and that's all I can really ask for. I can already tell that 2011 will be the beginning of many, many more wonderful years to come.

Goal List for 2011:
*give vegetarianism another go.
*move out of my parents house.
*enjoy the the last 6 months of being a teenager.
*continue the grandma night tradition and add little Savannah to the fun.
*stop. drinking. soda.
*read the books on my book list
*plan the beeest birthday ever for mr. blake.
*not complain when grandpa suggests we watch Cops, Intervention, or Ice Road Truckers. (this'll be a hard one..)

I heart you all.
I hope 2010 has been good to you, and I hope that 2011 will be even better.
:)

I think all I do is paint.

Monday, December 27, 2010

I have been painting like no other lately! Its ridiculous. And I love it.
Sometimes, I just need to take a [well deserved] break from all things arts & crafts to re-evaluate where I want this "hobby" of mine to go. How I want to develop it, and what I want to do with the talent my grandma swears I have.
Anyways, I've gotten back into it lately, and as someone asked - here is what I made for Blake for Christmas:
My original inspiration for it came from listening to the song "Die Slow" by one of Blake's favorite bands, HEALTH. And also from browsing through Miss Janellybean's flickr and stumbling upon this gem of a journal page. I fell in love with the concept and design and applied it to the painting. Colby helped me out with the layout of it all, too. :)
And!
Cassie came over today and we spent hours laying on the floor watching episodes from the first season of Nip Tuck and eating Christmas candy. And painting. She painted a picture of her tattoo (which is a feather), and I came up with this:
Cass and I were flipping through old issues of Nylon for "inspiration" and I came across an illustration of Peaches Geldof sitting on a tv. This is the result of seeing that picture.
:)

Time for sleepies.
I have a full day tomorrow, and then seeing the Trans Siberian Orchestra with Blake and his parents on Wednesday. Excited! ♥

homemade christmas cards, record players, and paintings.

Sunday, December 26, 2010

Christmas was absolutely fantastic. Here's a cute card to prove it:

Boyfriend made me a Christmas card! It is pretty much the most adorable thing ever. I think I love it more than the Arcade Fire album he gave me.. :)
I love how he drew a heart, and included his heart murmur, too. Haha. So stinking sweet.
And..as if that wasn't cute enough... on the back, he added pictures of my favorite people!
Jimmy+Emma+Manny = YES. Oh, and then the cast of The Room.
Blake is definitely a keeper.
And this has been playing allll day long:
It is absolutely wonderful. Quite possibly the best Christmas gift ever. Thank you Santa. :)
Andddd, finally.
The point of this blog. I've been painting a lot lately.. I did one the other night for Blake, and then a very last minute painting for Mr. Max's bedroom, and then, this one tonight. I'm gonna keep this one for myself, I think :)

Mr. Blake, you and I have a very, very good thing. And I like you x1000. Don't forget that. :)

2011 Book List.

As part of my goals for 2011, I made a list of books I want to read in 2011.
I didn't get to read near as often as I wanted to this year, and I think part of that was because I was in the last semester of high school/first semester of college. The transition for me was a bit odd and hard to get used to. So now that I know how to manage my time - I'm going to read more :)

*The Fountainhead – Ayn Rand

*Memoirs of a Geisha – Arthur Golden

*Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Truman Capote

*Harry Potter Series – JK Rowling (I've never read them before. Well, I read the first one. In 3rd grade.)

*Brave New World – Aldous Huxley

*The Stranger – Albert Camus

*Never Let Me Go – Kazuo Ishiguro

*Middlesex – Jeffrey Eugenides

*The Hours – Michael Cunningham

*Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood – Rebecca Wells

*The Virgin Suicides – Jeffrey Eugenides

I think I'll get a jump start on the fun and start The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood tonight. Wish me luck. I have a lot of work to do on completing this goal within a year. :)

merry christmas♥

Saturday, December 25, 2010

we woke up to snow falling this christmas morning and it was absolutely wonderful. it just completes the holiday. so so fun.
this is the first christmas in years that i haven't felt like crying. i am so incredibly grateful for my family, and for what they put up with from me. they are the most amazing family ever.
not to mention - santa did a pretty rockin job at making this christmas a good one.
this was after santa came for a little visit. he gave me a record player (my first!), tucker got the newest call of duty, cooper got some sort of gun (i have no clue; i have zero interest in that) and trevor got an..i don't know what that huge red thing is. a tool holder? hahaha i'm clueless.
santa did good! :)
this is my cute little family. i have three brothers, all younger than me. they are fun, but they can be rowdy and ruuude.these are the AWESOME grandkids. grandma and grandpa spoil each and every one of us. (grandma is really good about leaving me starbucks money in the morning before i leave for school. she's so awesome. -we also both got starbucks & barnes and noble gift cards, so she asked me to go on a coffee/book date with her. soo cute.)
and this is the whole bunch. i love every single person. especially little max. he's the cutest. :)

i hope you all had a very merry christmas.
mine's not over yet!
i get to go to a movie with the boyfriend and his parents after eating dinner with my dad' side of the family.
its been a really, really good day.
:)

oh, and p.s.
i am SO afraid of Blythes...
and look what was on my doorstep this morning?
...yup.

merry merry christmas (eve)

Friday, December 24, 2010

Last night was a fun one. My family had a pre-Christmas get together, with soups and sandwiches, and such. It was a really good time. Blake got to meet the family, and he did very well. :)
Oh! and Blake and I exchanged Christmas presents last night. I need to take pictures of what he got me since he later said, "you better blog the s*** out of your gifts" (have I every mentioned how cute my boyfriend can be sometimes?).
BUT - I did wear my SUPER awesome wolf t-shirt he got me when he was in Branson. I specifically asked for one. :) oh, and he also got me Arcade Fire's The Suburbs on vinyl, too, to compliment the record player my parents got me. He's a good boyfriend. :)
(oh, and grandpa wanted to try out photo booth again...)
So Merry Christmas.
I hope you all have a very happy/cozy/warm/wonderful holiday.

total eclipse of the heart.

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

fact: Total Eclipse of the Heart is by far my most favorite song in the world. Go ahead. Make fun of me. Tonight, I've stayed up way too late watching the (slightly boring/slightly AWESOME) solstice lunar eclipse. This isn't happening like this again until 2094, why did you watch it, huh? I watched a few too many episodes of Degrassi (season 3, of course, I kick it old school). I've also eaten way too many cake pops, of the red velvet variety. Too. Yummy.
Sunday, I went to Silver Dollar City with the boyfriend and his parents. It was SO cold, but so much fun. Branson is quite possibly the weirdest place in the entire world. I love spending time with his parents though. They are so stinking cute! We're going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra the week after Christmas... I'm pretty stoked about that. :)
And as if spending all day with Blake on Sunday wasn't enough.. he came over today for a very full day of movies. We watched Paranormal Activity, I'm Still Here, and (my favorite) Breakfast at Tiffany's. Ahhh, I looove days like this.
Tomorrow has been officially deemed "Gross Day" for Cassie and I. Its Timewarp Tuesday (surely you remember those...), and since Cassie is back in town for the month, OF COURSE we are attending (speaking of Cassie...I wish you could see our text convo right now. Amazing). We chose Paranormal Activity 2, and seeing as we're heading up to Springfield in the early (for us) morning, and it is freezing outside, we're wearing our comfy clothes, and probably sporting little to no makeup. Of course, prior to deciding it was "Gross Day," I did send a text to Cass that said, "LOOK CUTE or I will disown you."
Gosh.
I am SUCH a good friend.

:)
Back to Degrassi, unsweet tea, cake pops, and quite possibly, if I am lucky, sleeeep.

-Haley

i'm the king of the world.

Saturday, December 18, 2010

this is quite possibly the most awkward picture of me ever.
that's a lie. i could probably find a more awkward photo. but this is probably in the top 5.

i decided i was gonna myspace it up for a little bit.
remember when myspace used to be cool, and you could post those awesome bulletins and all your friends could read them and stuff like that and when you were bored, you could do these sweet little surveys? yeah, i'm totally gonna do that.
enjoy:)

When was the last time you threw up?
ew, i don't know. gross. secret: along with childbirth and the dark, i'm terribly afraid of throwing up. when i know i'm about to, i also start to have an anxiety attack. throwing up + anxiety do not mix well.
What's your favorite word or phrase?
my favorite word is free. i'm a poor college kid. free things make me happy.

What did your last text message say?
received? "you have no idea. you're the greatest"
... have i ever told you just how adorable my boyfriend is? he's pretty cute. :)
Are you someone's best friend?
for sure. i think the technical term for me is "fag hag"
Where is your mom right now?
in her bedroom. scrapbooking. of course.
Look to your left, what do you see?

Biggest annoyance in your life right now?
this stupid survey. why did i decide to do this?!
Last song listened to?
"the youth" - mgmt (kickin it old school tonight..)
Last movie you saw?
"American Teen" - such a cute little documentary about teenagers in Indiana. that sounds boring when I actually say it. ha

there were actually like a million questions left, but i was getting bored. that was a dumb idea.
i'm watching Titanic, and i have a headache the size of a small country, so i'm gonna end this here.
goooood night.

DEGRASSI ♥

If you follow me on Twitter...
you know that I love Degrassi.
This has seriously been my favorite TV show since 7th grade.
ITS SO GOOD, YOU GUYS. ♥
GUYS. Jimmy got his legs back... :)
And Craig was always my favorite... including that gross coke habit and the mental breakdown. I still love you, Craig. I. Still. Love. You.
Degrassi isn't so great anymore.
I definitely prefer the old episodes.
I've recently been waaaay into the 2nd & 3rd seasons. I think Degrassi covers every issue a teenage could ever come across in their young teenage lives. Cutting, rape, piercings, friends stealing your boyfriend, even plus size modeling! This show has EVERYTHING. :)
